Obituary for Farris VanWinkle
Farris ‘Pete’ VanWinkle was born September 14, 1934 to Delcie See VanWinkle and James VanWinkle in Jackson County, Kentucky. Pete Departed this life on Friday June 9, 2017 at his home. Pete was 82, he was united in marriage to Georgia Northern on August 14, 1954, and they would have celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary this year. Pete enjoyed Coon hunting, his Bees and fishing, he was a member of the Holiness Faith and Bobtown was his home church.
Pete and Georgia were blessed with three children; Verla, Dwayne, and Marvin, Pete is survived by his wife Georgia VanWinkle, his children Verla Hatton of McKee, KY, Dwayne (Peggy) VanWinkle of McKee, KY, and Marvin (Stephanie) VanWinkle of Berea, KY, his grandchildren: Renee (Rusty) Riley, Lee J. Hatton, Tiffany VanWinkle, Heather Owens, Travis Cooper, and Justin VanWinkle, and his great grandchildren: Megan Riley, Shane Riley, Sammie Riley, Alexus Folden, Kaylee Owens, and two great-great grandchildren; Chloe and Callie Riley, his two sisters: Jeanette Malicote, and Stella Isaacs, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Pete was preceded in death by his grandparents James and Martha (Mam & Pop) See, his parents James and Delcie VanWinkle, his sisters: Martha, Mae, Geneva, Edith and Sarah and his brother Luther ‘Muggs’ VanWinkle and son-in-law Audie Hatton.
Funeral services will be Monday June 12, 2017 at 1:00 pm with Bro. Bobby Hale and Bro. Ermon Turner officiating, burial will be in the See Cemetery in Jackson County. Pallbearers will be Justin VanWinkle, Lee J. Hatton, Rusty Riley, Travis Cooper, Ricky VanWinkle, and Billy Cope. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-9 pm at Lakes Funeral Home in Berea.
